At HayCo, our main projects are seawalls, retaining walls, and bulkheads. The term "seawall" is a common reference to any physical, man made barrier between the water and the land. Bulkheads are seawalls that are usually very large, and very strong. These walls are used in serious marine environments, such as ocean shores, where tides, currents, and the weather vary considerably. "Retaining walls" refer to a similar product, but usually on dry land with no body of water present. These walls would be used to control erosion or terrace a slope, they simply "retain" the earth.
