The Important Factors Anything worth doing, is worth doing right. Including your seawall. Before you tackle this project, consider these points: Function, Feasability, and Appearence In other words, your project should serve a purpose, be affordable, and look great! We're losing our real estate! Over time, water takes a toll on the land surrounding it. In areas with high water volume runoff, the effects can be seen in months, days, or even hours. We call this erosion. The right seawall or bulkhead (Note: these two words are interchangeable, the words "retaining wall" can refer to the same product, but usually on dry land) will stop this process. Obviously, that is the main purpose: to stop the erosion. But, the best wall gives you much more: - a strong wall that won't move, shift, warp, bow or rot - last many years, in fact some walls carry a lifetime warranty! - control the waves and channel the water, impervious to flash runoff - lawncare and maintence is much easier with a defined "edge" to the landscape - a foundation for building peripherals such as patios, docks, boardwalks, and boathouses - rid the property of dens for snakes, beaver, crawfish, and other creatures - allows you to create "usable space", an environment that can safely be explored and enjoyed - sharp increase in property values, usually recouped in a few years! - not only keep the real estate you paid for, sometimes we can give you more! I have the time if you have the money! We can build another Great Wall of China given enough time and money. But you don't want a Great Wall of China! Your waterfront solution must be feasable, which means two things: - a reasonable price for the service rendered. - we must be able to create the proper solution. For example, if the right machinery cannot fit past obstacles at the jobsite, then you will be left with more expensive options. Extra expenses may make the project unfeasable.
